ISA Hamilton Section - Annual General Meeting
&
New Ontario Toxics Reduction Act & Planner
Certification |
|
Abstract: |
|
The Toxics
Reduction Act came into effect on January 1,
2010. It will require approximately 2000
Ontario manufacturers, and some mining
companies, to undertake toxic substance
accounting, planning, and reporting, if
reporting requirements are satisfied. The plan
and report must be certified by the highest
ranking official at the facility who has
management responsibilities. Additional draft
regulations are being planned, including the
requirement for certified planners (who would
also certify the plan and report).
Phil’s
presentation will provide a practical overview
of Ontario’s Toxic Reduction Act and the
proposed training and licensure model. He will
discuss some success stories from Massachusetts
industries, potential opportunities for Ontario
manufacturers, and guidance on reporting.
